River Description

Doesn't look as though there's a good takeout at the W. Br. confluence. Lat/lon coordinates reflect a takeout on Rte. 126 in North Whitefield.
Landowner relations have deteriorated in recent years on the Sheepscot. Please be very respectful of the locals. Don't drive too fast; don't litter; don't go undressing in public. Use your head, or all paddlers will have a major headache here!

Ran April 19, 2011; gauge at 5.66’, 1,540 cfs. We had to put in just south of 32/17 crossing, as upper section not runable because of trees down. The stretch is much longer than the 2 miles listed; more like 4 miles. First ~1/4 good water, last 3/4 pretty flat. II-III seems right on.

Bellows Falls (VT) Flow Study Reveals Hidden Whitewater

6/2/2015
Robert Nasdor

A hardy group of northeast boaters climbed into the natural river channel below a hydropower dam to participate in a flow study designed to assess whether whitewater flows should be restored to this dewatered river reach on the Connecticut River. While significant obstacles remain, this site has the potential for providing instruction, playboating, and a big water feature that that could be run throughout much of the year and provide a much needed boost to the local economy.
