Gauge Description:

Realtime flow information for the reach between the dam and the powerhouse is now provided on the PacifiCorp Prospect Whitewater page and is updated every hour.

During scheduled release weekends paddlers need to beware and use caution, as actual river flows may be vastly different because of operational changes at the dams (e.g. if the powerhouse suddenly goes offline) or due to weather conditions (e.g. a summer rain event). These events can result in extreme changes (100s of cfs) without notice. Additionally, the imprecise nature of the spill gate controls can result in variability of +-35 cfs. PacifiCorp will make a good faith effort to release the target amounts on the date and time specified, but all paddlers who enter the gorge need to be aware of the potential hazard of extreme changes in flows that can happen unexpectedly and without warning.
