Jeff West (1970- 2012) at Gorilla, circa 1994.

Jeff was a much-loved and respected long-term fixture in southeast paddling, and died on approximately Sept. 10th, 2012, while attempting to solo paddle the Stikine River in British Columbia. He was a veteran of Stikine, and you can read his write-up of an earlier trip here: Stikine In A Day. More about Jeff can be found on the web by a simple search, as well as looking at his AceKayaking blog.

A veteran of a total of 12 Green Races (link to his race history), he had a series of impressive paddling accomplishments -- including two marathon runs on the Green. One time he and some others completed 10 laps in a day, and the other time they completed a staggering 11 laps in one day.

I am unclear on the date (and photographer) of this picture, but saw mentioned elsewhere it was 1994. Please let me know if you can help. johnpilson and I'm at the gmail.

(Also, dunno why but this pic is showing as 'huge' for me on my screen, but reverts to more normal if I click "see full size".....I wanna know how to fix this)
