The Peabody is an under appreciated run fed by Mount Washington snowmelt. At low-medium levels (400-800 cfs), it is mostly a Class III paddle (although I have not paddled below the Route 16 bridge or above the picnic area). The lack of distinct rapids (aside from a defined bedrock rapid above the Route 16 bridge) is more than made up by clear water, consistent rapids, and wonderful views of the Presidentials. It is a friendly, scenic run to tack on to the end of a spring ski day. It is possible - and worth it - to put in above the campground at road side parking area about a mile upstream. Likely further up as well.
