I have run this section countless times in the last 4 years with my brothers, dad , a few friends and always enjoy it. Living in madison this river is practicly in my backyard. the normal putin is at the criglersville ford/low water crossing, but at higher levels we putin at the 231 643 bridge. the upper section has some great class II and a few III rapids with a handfull of nice playspots. after you go under the 231 bridge , the river starts to drop a little quicker. after you go over the low dam (2 ft) that is along side a road(cant remeber the name) the best section on the river is coming soon. At a high enough water level it is a definite class III section and is a very enjoyable run. there are three main rapids, the first is a few standing waves and one hole on river right, next the river turns to the right and there is a 3 stage drop that totals around 5 ft. run starting river right across to river left. after a nice pool is the third drop that offers some nice surfing at most any water level. below there the river smooths out to a nice class II river and meanders down through hebron valley to route 29. there is a few strainers throughout the route, but there is always a route around them and portage is not necessary. recomend for anyone wanting a nice scenic trip through madison county =)
