The access trail is still in good condition but the road has some damage after recent storms.
Acess is based on a hike along the Boulder Falls trail. This is one mile to 1.5 miles on a railroad grade. The put in at the base of the side creek starts you at a signifcant class 4 or harder rapid based on river levels. The river does not let up a lot from here to the giganitc and difficult to portague Boulder Falls. Unfortunatly the falls are very hard to see from the trail and the best option to get out is well above them at a camp site.
Boulder Falls is hard to see from the trail and is on a hairpin turn in the river under a failry large gorge. The river drops over a 70 foot series of deadly cacdaes full of trees and boulders. It is unlikely to ever be runnable.
Getting back to the river is not much fun as it is down a steep slope with devils club and brambles.
Boulder Falls is not the large waterfall dropping in on the river left where the majority of hikers stop and take photographs.
Below this the river does loose a lot of the gradient and pulls away from the trail system.
