Wiley Creek is a beautiful creek with a couple of micro-gorges. Though a lot of the run is class III+ boogie water, there are several fun class IV drops requiring some technical moves. Because of the continuity of the run, blind corners, and high risk of wood/strainers, one needs solid class IV skills to paddle this run. As of 5/2/10, there was only one mandatory portage with a couple other recommended portages for wood. The remainder could be navigated under/over/through/around. Higher water would make this run much more difficult due to the continuous nature of the rapids and the presence of wood. At lower levels there are lots of eddies to catch to boat scout most areas. The flume at Cascade Falls has reportedly sent paddlers airborne. Enjoy this mid-Cascade gem!
