Nehalem

Did the first two miles from Clear Creek before bailing. Tons of wood in the river, including two trees that span the entire river. Portage the first on the left, gravel bank on inside of bend.  The second is on a wooded stretch with steep banks, portage on the right, 50 yards upstream of the strainer. We bailed not long after the second portage, after my beginner buddy had a close call with a strainer that covered a third of the river, there are many of these. Was hoping for an easy float, as described, but it had too many hazards to be worth it.
