Loon Creek is a multi-day adventure run that includes paddling around 50 miles of the Middle Fork Salmon or flying back out from one of the air strips. More commonly, people often hike up from the Middle Fork to run the bottom canyon. Best done when the Middle Fork is at a medium flow.

The crux of the lower gorge is a vertical drop tucked up against the left bank that is hard to scout from the trail, but somewhat obvious that it's steep and there. It is very near the top of the gorge, after just a few entry sequences.
