The first of three waterfalls on the Maryland side of Great Falls of the Potomac. At this level, Pummel is a 20' shear drop. This was one of the first meetings of the Friday Afternoon Paddle Club.
The 5th slide of the Fish Ladder has this alternate entry on river left. After the 5' boof into the eddy, you then peel out onto the slide about a third of the way down.
Jerry launching a sik boof over Horseshoe.
At low flows, the main curtain of Pummel dries up and leaves us with The Slot. The drop can vary from an enveloping flume of water to a shear 18' drop. This is the first drop of the Maryland line of Great Falls.
