Colton Falls

Description

Colton Falls is the largest single drop on this stretch, cascading 60 feet through a series of ledges and slides and ending in a savage hole. Scouting from the left is most revealing, as the standard line descends over a chunky ledge before cutting right to boof the right side of a crack. If you’re in control, a three-boat-eddy provides a staging area for the next move down a long slide to punch a ledge-hole. Safety is important here, the hole is very retentive. A “race line” down the center right funnels into “the Chapel,” a deceptively powerful recirculating eddy that has delivered life threatening swims on more than one occasion.  Easy to portage using the trails on the right or left.
