In partnership with other conservation and recreation organizations, American Whitewater launched our Wild Olympics Campaign focused on a dozen major river systems on Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula that represent important opportunities for river conservation. The region is unique because its watersheds receive several feet of precipitation each year, providing an incredible number of river miles in a small geographic area and creating dozens of whitewater runs that pass through towering old-growth forest. Our specific objective is to permanently protect more than 126,500 acres of Olympic National Forest as wilderness and 19 rivers and their major tributaries, a total of 464 river miles, as Wild and Scenic Rivers.

Check out the Wild Olympics website for more information on this campaign.
