Daddy's Creek

This section of Daddy's Creek would be a classic Class II-III run, where it not for the logistics required to run it in isolation. The pace is consistent, the rapids quality, and the scenery and water quality on par with the classic canyon section upstream. The shuttle for this section is over an hour of driving each way, with a half-mile hike out up a steep, rough 4wd road. As such, it is almost exclusively enjoyed by paddlers as a warm-up for Obed Canyon, the 10-mile long run downstream, or other extended, multi-section itineraries. When someone is referring to 'DBT to Nemo' they are referring to running Obed Canyon by putting on at Devil's Breakfast Table and running this 2.3 mile section down to the start of the Obed Canyon, and on down to Nemo.

TWRA/Catoosa Access Issues: This section is in Catoosa WMA, and is subject to wildlife rest period closure from February 1st to the last Friday in March, annually. During this time there is no access to Devil's Breakfast Table (DBT). Access was recently granted during big game hunts to DBT, but please drive slowly and courteously.

Flussi: This section has a big flow range. Expect rocky, undercut conditions at minimum flows, and pushy Class III river running at higher flows. An optimum for this section is between 1.7 and 2.5 feet on the Daddy's Creek gauge, which comes in around 400-1000 cfs. It can be run as low as 250 cfs, or 1.2 feet.

As you float the first rapid below Devil's Breakfast Table, make sure to spin upstream and admire the actual DBT rock formation curiously looming above on river-left. Regular fun Class II+ rapids get going in earnest, and not far into the run a boulder rapid smashes into a tall, house-sized rock on the left bank. Just below here is a low-lying slab boulder that covers most of the river. It's very undercut, so stay on the far right bank to avoid issues here.
