Lake Columbia

On February 2, 2021, Alliant Energy announced the plant will shut down by 2025. On June 23, 2022, they announced decommissioning would be delayed until June 2026. In December 2024 the date was further pushed back to 2029, to allow for conversion to natural gas. It is unknown how much effect this will have on the lake (cooling pond).
