River Description
Check out the description and photos at Oregon Kayaking.
The run starts with a large cascade into waterfall with a questionable landing that has not been run as of 2025.
Downstream the run alternates between ledges and ramps seperated by bouldery sections. The further downstream one goes, the futher between the worthwhile rapids become. This run is prone to wood.
Use the instantaneous flow drop option to see flows on Willamina Creek: https://apps.wrd.state.or.us/apps/sw/hydro_near_real_time/display_hydro_graph.aspx?station_nbr=14193000
500-1,000 cfs and dropping is a reasonable range to shoot for, but flows have not been dialed in for this run.
The upper section needs at least 2,000 cfs on the SF Yamhill @Willamina gauge.
As of 2010 this run was full of wood.
There is a nice class II-III run closer to town that is worth doing, taking out at Tindle Creek Road. There were no log portages on that section as of January, 2015. This section can be run with lower flows than the upper.
