Dan

3. Route 1432 to Route 89

We put in with 1.91 showing on the Dan Francisco gauge. Just shy of 2 on the bridge. The river was boney in several areas but we never had to walk our boats. There were no strainers and all the rapids were very straightforward to run. It took us about 2hrs and 15 minutes from put in to take out with no breaks. Shuttle takes about 10 minutes.

There is also another area where you can take out just before you get to the DRC private access. It's a small concrete ramp on the right side and is part of Hanging Rock State Park so it's a public access (at the end of Flinchum Road), but you need to watch carefully for it so you don't miss it. If you get to DRC, you missed it. The last time we paddled this section we put in at the access off of 704 under the bridge and took out here at Hanging Rock.

Just wanted to comment that the 89 access is no longer public. to take out here you want to paddle under the bridge and up big creek to the 268/Lynchburg Rd. parking on Lynchburg is limited. Do not use the DRC Private access or block the gate. There is an obvious pulloff on the West side of the bridge large enough for 2 cars.

Also, the Dan is fine down to 100 cfs from 89 down. I is actually good to go a bit lower as well but it is scrappy. The upper area from 704 down to 89 needs 150 cfs.

This is a great run if you catch it after a big rain. Great at 2.2' and up to 5'. Several class 2 and 2+rapids.
