River Description

We have no specific knowledge of runs of this stretch of river. All info is via analysis of online mapping information and aerial-view recon. There appears to be adequate size, drainage area, and (even up in the early going) the river looks surprisingly 'open'. That is not to imply that there will not be problems with occasional deadfall (you have to expect there to be some on any smaller stream), just that surprisingly little was obvious on aerial views online.

Our listed put-in is actually on the Little Gooseberry, just upstream of the confluence with the Gooseberry. It is not known how feasible the listed put-in location might be. It appears likely you would have to obtain permission from a private property owner for the listed access (unknown how boater-friendly they may be) or be prepared to look for alternative access.

Gradient appears to be remarkably well spread out -- no big drops are evident. There appears to be quite a good bit of low-grade rapids, but you may also expect to encounter areas of flat, but well-flowing, water -- it does not appear that there are any excessively long areas of slow flatwater.

So . . . has anyone ever scouted or paddled this stretch? Help out your fellow boaters using the 'Add a Comment' button below, or (better yet) add a 'report' complete with photo(s) and/or video(s)! Let us know if our analysis is pretty much correct or if we miss the mark. Is this worth paddling? Are there special cautions or drops to be aware of? Or should folks just look elsewhere? (If it's more hassle than it's worth.)

This could provide alternative access, though I suspect the (unimproved) roads which show on aerial views are likely private/gated for access to apparent quarries/mines in the vicinity. Otherwise, this (and the other listed 'rapids' (features)) are really more just waypoints/mileage-markers.
