3. Lower, Fishtop Access to Big Rock Access(Lower Green)
Alerts
Log in to add an alertAccess the Lower Green via Silver Creek Road. The switchbacks on Green River Cove Rd are closed due to damage and ongoing construction (until fall 2025 at least). Only residents are allowed on the switchbacks. Due to damage to the powerhouse, flows are rain dependent but the levels for the Narrows and Lower seem to be holding well. Beware of debris in the river and changes to the rapids. Some rapids may poise entrapment risks.
WARNING: This run has been severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The entire riverbed has changed and access roads and parking are severely impacted or entirely gone.
Several new trees down on the lower green. there is a large tree down across the river left channel before corky #2. there is a small opening through in swift current but would recommend the right channel on this rapid.
Figured I would put this out there for those that care. There are two changes to the wood blockages on the lower.
The large tree before superman rock has shifted and now faces down river. River right is now wide open and friendly at high water. Left side is runnable as well just little tighter.
There is now a small tree in the left channel of the island before the big tree. At higher flows it presents no issue but could snag a boat at lower summer time water levels.
We were going to put in at the Fishtop access yesterday (3/22/12) and a fisherman there warned about a river wide tree trunk between Fishtop and the first bridge. You apparently can't see the trunk from the road, though you can apparently portage around it. We successfully put in at the first bridge and it was clear from there to the take out.
