River Description
Three Forks Trailhead is mainly known as the starting point to hike to Diamond Fork hot springs. Motivated paddlers who are looking for something to do when nothing else is running, perhaps wanting to try out a new kayak-carrying backpack, can do a boat hike upstream along Sixth Water creek, and paddle short sections of the picturesque, remote-feeling little creek (no cell coverage). This creek is similar to American Fork, in that it has a heavy wood load, and should be completely, 100% bank scouted before attempting it. Sometimes only the lower quarter to third mile has been doable. In 2010, it was possible to paddle the lower 1.1 miles, from below a riverwide boulder sieve which is .1 mile upstream from the 5th water footbridge. In 2016, 7 mandatory portages were reported.
