River Description

Scott England explored this run via packraft in June 2018, which is a good choice of craft considering it is a 1.9 mile hike from the Rock Creek trailhead to the end of Upper Stillwater Reservoir, 3.5 miles to the East Fork confluence, and another mile to a suggested putin one mile upstream of the East fork confluence (4.5 miles one way). Wood portages are more common above there.

Scott shared:

I made a very nice descent down Upper Rock Creek at 300 cfs in the High Uinta Wilderness. 6 miles total, 7 wood portages up top, but the bottom 3 or 4 miles were super high quality, with relatively few wood issues. The crux of this run is a mile long stretch of steep class IV enclosed in a box canyon. This would be all class V at twice the flow that I ran it at. I would recommend putting in a mile above the confluence of East Fork of Rock Creek and boating down to the reservoir. This stretch has as high a quality of whitewater as you can find in Utah, and it is a great wilderness adventure.

Its a pretty steep run, roughly 200 feet per mile, 300 feet per mile crux, with some horizon line scouting, but no falls.
