Log in to add an alertAW was just alerted that there is a new barbed wire fence across the Upper Slate River between Gunsight Bridge and the Town of Crested Butte. The fence is located downstream from Wildbird, the CB Land Trust parcel, and downstream from an existing boater friendly PVC fence. Immediate efforts are underway to have the fence removed, but in the meantime boaters should be aware of this hazard. The voluntary no-float period on the Slate River ends this Friday, June 15 and while flows are low it is expected there will be an increase in river users this weekend.
