River Description
Lower gore creek is an amped-up extension of the Upper section but still an enjoyable class III paddle through Vail. Paired with the upper, its a beautiful, consistent, and manageable and consistent day on the water. The nature of the river is playful class III creeking with some class IV hole-dodging and boofing. Passing the sewer plant on the upper is the signal that the river is about to pick up.
Rapids to note are:
1. Just past the sewer plant
2. 1/3 mile past the Westin Hotel next to the tennis courts
3. Just above intermountain park at the West Vail exit
4. 200 yards past the game control fence
The put-in for Lower Gore Creek is the takeout for Upper Gore Creek, the Interfaith Chapel on Vail Road. You can either take out at Intermountain Park or continue onto Dowd Chute.

Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportPaddled this yesterday (6.13.2021) in the low 300 cfs range. Not mentioned here, but there are two pipes that cross the river in the lower half of this run that could be a hazard. The pipes are near the section of the creek that is directly adjacent to the highway. The first pipe is slightly lower. We had to scrunch to get under and it was tight. The second pipe is slightly higher, but we had to duck slightly. At higher water these could be a hazard. At this level, the pipes were visible from upstream and we could eddy out above and assess.
