One of the more popular floats in Athens. This section is great for someone who has never paddled before, as long as the river is not high. Very scenic and populated with otters, turtles and great blue herons.
Put in on river left at Ben Burton Park. There is a county maintained boat launch here.
Take out at Macon Hwy. As of Feb 2019 there is not a public access point and parking is along the road. Take out either river right or river left, under the bridge and carry out just on the upstream side of the bridge.
