On April 20, 2024, we paddled the section from Olson Road to Wolf Run Trailhead North between 6:15 PM and 8 PM. It was at a really good, friendly water level, and I would not describe it as 'low'. I have run this section maybe a dozen times in the past four years, so I have some experience there.
The gauge height recorded 34 cfs.
The American Whitewater database currently categorizes that in the 'too low' / 'below recommended' category. Either the gauge has changed or the river itself has changed. I heard that perhaps some construction either from trout habitat restoration or from floods may have changed the river.
bring bug spray!! as of 5/26/19 there are three places you will be blocked by fallen trees. 2 of the places - easily portage. the third there is an electric fence on one side of the stream and the other side is a steep drop off. i went to the left and lifted my kayak over the fallen tree.
