I ran the full route at 2,500 cfs and there were some quality class II rapids. Very little stagnant water at those levels. Put in @ 200 is pretty bad, I recommend going further down stream to the public access.

Put in at Mt. Pleasant rd. bridge to Hwy. 24/27 for a great fishing trip. Bass and sunfish are aplenty. Uninhabited pretty much the whole trip. 4-5 hours at this level, 30 minutes from Charlotte,Concord, and Albemarle. COUNTRY-MAN LIVERY PUT ME ON THE FISH!!! I have also heard rumors about some lucky gold prospectors talking about this section of river.

Run this river at a minimum of 350 cfs from Hwy 24/27 to Hwy 200, any lower would be too much scraping. From hwy 200 to the Pee Dee river only 250cfs would be ok. Lots of class I-II ledges in this lower section, watch out for NO TRESSPASSING signs, they mean it.

This river is a hidden jewel of the piedmont! From Renee Ford Rd. to Hwy 200 at about 500cfs or better, this is a rough estimate. Have seen it as high as 20,000cfs and it is a full on class III run! No Kidding, 20 minutes from Charlotte, NC! If anybody can help with the access issues on this beautiful river please do.
