Virgin River, East Fork

Parunuweap Canyon offers a high adventure run through a dramatic canyon of unknown difficulty. The run requires an 8-mile hike out prior to entering Zion National Park, in which all recreation is prohibited in the East Fork of the Virgin River canyon. Leave No Trace in this seldom-run river flowing through a BLM Wilderness Study Area. This run is threatened by an upstream dam proposal that would take most or all of the high flows required for paddling.
