With construction at 105 it is way prettier to just begin at old ford. Still shallow in places from there, but doable. Doesnt really get good until below valle crucis park. Also prettier down there.
I didn't do this whole run, but took my kids in a ducky from old ford trail to the bridge before the community park. I'd consider at least 300 cfs to be a minimum personally. I'm from out of town so it was still fun, but I wouldn't consider this without quite a bit more water for rapid play. I will say from 105 to where we started looked pretty cool. Be aware that this section has multiple low bridges that would need to be portaged at proper levels.
New Watauga River access at Route 321 bridge. Very nice greenway project driven by local counties.
