1. Upper Ash(Marlow to Gilsum Gorge)

Log in to add an alertRiver-wide strainer (large pine tree) about 1/2 way down. About 100 yards downstream of very small/dilapidated log cabin on river left. Easy to walk on river right.
Channel-wide strainer (pine tree, partially submerged) in first gorge drop (after stone bridge). Definitely scout.
10-16-10 There is a strainer in Gilsum Gorge at the first drop after the bridge. It did not look passable to me. I didn't see a left line around that huge rock and the log go's across the entire right line. Make sure you scout this.
We ran the Upper Ash at 4.7 on 7/26/09.
There's a big pine tree almost all the way across the river right above the last bridge before the take-out. It had not been there in Aril 2009.
It can be easily seen from the road & the river. Scouting, it looked easily passable on river left. We made it through, but it was a lot tighter than it had seemed. At higher levels the water would've been pushy enough to make it very dicey. The right bank is high at that spot so it may not widen the channel.
