River Description
The most important thing to know about this section is that permission is needed to run it from the Boiling Springs Rod and Gun Club. In his guidebook, Gertler states that he visits the clubhouse at the head of Richardson Gorge (permission is also needed to run lower Back Creek, which shares the same takeout). You might also ask for permission to put in at the head of the gorge (below the low water bridge) rather than Rt. 39, removing the flatter section and resulting in a 2.5 mile run of the gorge with an average gradient of 40 feet per mile. If you have gained permission, you can also do both Richardson Gorge and the Back Creek gorge in the same day since both are short.
