This upper section is an alternate put in for the classic Chetco wilderness run for adventurous boaters with a class V skill set. The run is usually accessed by hiking into Fresno Creek, and smashing down that creek for about a mile until the confluence with the Chetco. Fresno seems like a bummer, until you rememer the alternative is carrying your loaded boat further cross country through the Kalmiopsis.
