Definitely a beautiful Sonoran float. Good camps at Cochran. But bring a saw. Be careful. This stretch is -full- of wood. Single trunk/limbo-pole trees across the river and channel-wide tamarisk & willow branch strainers and debris pileups are common. A pretty raucous time in a tandem canoe. Seems significanly worse than when I IK'ed it in April 2023. The attached photo is a fairly common sight. We sawed out some baddies, but not nearly all of it.
Anywhere that isnt choked out in vegetation is severly trashed by cattle grazing. As are the mesquite bosques in the uplands. Cattle are permitted to graze the riparian in the winter months. Cattle are supposed to be removed from the riparian pasture by April 1st, however they often aren't.
2 fencelines currently up near A-Diamond Ranch. Another fenceline approaching Cochran is currently down, but I've seen it up in the past.
