River Description
See ab257's Esopus Page. This section has a release the first weekend in June.
Steve McLuckie shares:
This section starts very shortly after NYC's Ashokan Reservoir and will have enough water only rarely unless the reservoir is full and overflowing the spillway. Because of the reservoir, neither of the online gauges is useful for this run. The best way to find out how much water is flowing (other than being able to actually look at it) is to check the
NOAA forecast for reservoir elevation
. The reservoir begins to overflow at 587.1 feet, and probably needs to be a couple of tenths higher. Another few tenths will mean high water.

The gauge referenced is upstream of the reservoir and is essentially useless for judging whether or not this section has enough water. There's another guage about 15 miles downstream, that is also relatively useless.
