River Description

Brennan Riolo shared:

'(This section) only runs in the spring, and is very low the rest of the year. Watch out for several strainers and beaver dams until Westernville...The best of the river is after the East Branch merges. Also, the putin requires walking on private property for about 100 feet. Best bet is to ask the house on the corner lot for permission before hiking in. Fun river otherwise.'

Nearby Fish Creek was running at approx.3000CFS. Recommend using that gauge for reference.

Recommend using nearby Fish Creek gauge for reference. The Fish was at 3000CFS and the Mohawk West Branch could be run with the Fish reading quite higher. Nice option and scenic run. Put in parking worked out ok.

This gauge is no where near this part of the river, and really has not correlation with this section as it only runs in the spring, and is very low the rest of the year. Watch out for several strainers and beaver dams until Westernville. The take out should actually be River Road in North Western as the best of the river is after the East Branch merges. The take out listed cuts the run short. Also the put in requires walking on private property for about 100 feet. Best bet is to ask the house on the corner lot for permission before hiking in. Fun river otherwise.
