There is a logging cable and pulley spanning across the river. It has not been used in years. It has generally been high enough not to be an issue. Something happened and the cable is sagging close to the water.
The rapids is runnable to the left with enough clearance. The rapids should not be run on the right. The pulley mechanism is less than 2’ from the water surface when the river was running 7’ yesterday.

I have very sad news to share, a gentleman we paddled with today (we only knew him as Bill) lost his life on the Iron Bridge rapid this afternoon. Two young kayakers pulled him from the hole and performed CPR for almost 20 minutes until help finally arrived. It was truly a heroic effort, unfortunately in vain.

Please say a prayer for Bill and his family.
