The Fall colors were great that weekend.
This is probably a minimal level for this silliness. Paul's pretty much online.
His line was good...but he got backendered. Lucky for him, he drifted a foot or two into the current. A couple feet back, and... schlurrrrp...you get sucked back under the curtain, against the rocks, into the cave-- unfurl them throw ropes!
This looks like a great boof, but it's a rocky way to go. The real boofin line is river left of where the boater you see is at. (The normal Funnel line, a pleasant Class IV-, is in all that white stuff to the river right of the paddler.)
Funnel is a fun rapid. John Kobak says 'Anyone who runs the Boof at Funnel, has Boof for Brains.'
That's Dave Duke in the yellow helmet, taking a breather after holding their lifeline for several precious minutes. See Brent's boat over there in the eddy? I bet next time he won't commit to a blind drop until he knows it's clear!
Thanks to the three raft guides who hustled along the riverbank to help out.
