River Description
Put in as close to the dam as you can. The best section is at the top. Below the dam the stream dumps into a gorgeous pool. When we were there we saw 5 bald eagles lazily watching/ fishing for monster trout below. We were told they are there all the time.
The rest of the run was a mild class 2 which was quite scenic with a few ledges. We took out after the campground with all the RVs. This would be a great place to host a beginner weekend clinic.

scouted it out today @ 488 cfs. the short section below the dam could be fun at this level for a local class 3. nice looked hole at bridge. not sure about the off limits thing but there are no posted signs on river right between the road below and to the dam. pics
Run was short but really scenic. Would be a great beginner spot, especially when nothing else is running. We took out at the KOA campground at the Union Church bridge because the second half looked shallow and boring, based on scouting from rte 88 and from the traditional takeout. This made the run about 1.5 miles total. In the middle there are some nice islands, a couple of very small surfable shelf holes, and some nice big boulders for beginners to practice eddying behind.
Parking at the put in is minimal. Recommend dropping boats at put in and parking on one of the side roads and walking back. Takeout parking is much friendlier.

Rode this today - plenty of water. The first 200 yards right after the dam was a great section with a great little drop - the rest of the ride was pretty slow. But we went back and did the first part a couple more times.
