River Description
The river is primarily a flat water paddle. The only exceptions are a fishing weir about two miles down from the putin and the rapid called Schroon falls at the take out. In high water you will need to be careful of the fishing weir as it can have a uniform back roller and the possibility of pinning is there. Otherwise the only section that is runnable is the far right.
At the end of the section, as you approach the bridge you will notice a horizon line. If you need to scout do so from the left bank as the right is private. The entire rapid is only about 40 feet long and is completely under the bridge. It is run from right to center. Be careful of pinning possibilities in low water. At certain levels you may be able to use this rapid as a park and play area. Take out is on river left immediately past the rapid unless you want to paddle all the way to Schroon Lake. In that case there are a number of locations to take out at every bridge. Again, the remainder of the river to the lake is flat and has houses along the way.
