...River Features
Put In
Put holds many no tresspassing signs and a fat no parking at the end of the main road I reccomend being dropped off at the end of the road.
Sylvan Falls
2 lines around an island with very large drops on both sides.
Below Sylvan Falls
right after the falls there is scratchy class 3
class IV
the first big horizion line in the river is split by a bed rock outcropping where most of the flow goes left, and the right side of the river has a pretty large ledge hole protecting the entrance, scout on the left.
another class IV
the seccond big horizion line in the river is a rocky rapid with a ton of wood on the right side,so keep left and stay left of the island, if you scout it make sure to scout the whole rapid due to the large hole at the bottom. there is a really nice eddie about 100 feet below it to recover if you swim. below this is about 3/4 mile of flat water.
Bridge Rapid
there is an obvious horizion line which is a bedrock outcropping, make sure to boof it if your going of the left side, the right side is more of a slide. watch out for wood below this there is alot on the right side of the bridge and even more on the left side of the island, there is even more on the top of the rapid below the bridge. This could be a alternate put-in/take out.
below bridge falls
Below the bridge is a very unsuspecting waterfall that is shrouded in logs and rocks. scout before dropping it is pretty complex.
the rest of the river
after the bridge rapid the river switched between class III and flat water, there is one noteable rapid that has a sharp horizion line and a hole that is 10 feet wide in the middle of the flow just before the bottom. This is where the play boats shine with many play holes, eddies and rocks for stern squirts. there is plenty of flatwater aswell.
Take Out
Take out at Parishville park or at the end of the resivour before the dam. parishville park may be open seasonally so make sure your car does not get locked in there.
Trip Reports
Log in to add a report2 boaters ran this section of river, rapids are pretty large and get bigger at higher flows, next time I run this I will have a half slice or somthing close to that. There is tons of wood on this section of river so be careful if you run it.
