River Description
This section of the Chauga is a nice class 2/3 canoe float that happens to have a 100 yard long class 5 section about a half a mile into it. There are three back to back slides and waterfalls in a section called the narrows. Local hairboating types have run all of them. The better portage trail is down river right.
After that the river calms down and is a nice pleasant float down to Cassidy Bridge.

Trip Reports
Log in to add a report1.5 - 2 hour ducky float that took 4 hours of portaging, crawling over, scraping under, and around way too many downed trees. Put in at Grapevine Campground (after Narrows), take out Cassidy Bridge. I recommend leaving this section to the numerous fishermen.
This is the chute on the narrows its a beautiful place even in the middle of winter.
This is the falls that lead into the chute.
Kevin Miller runs Chauga Narrows like it is an easy rapid.
This little rapid follows the Narrows
Chauga Narrows is a big drop and it would be bad to flip here.
