Half a dozen river wide strainersDavid Fulcher
Nov 14, 2020

Ran it first week in November 2020 had strainer above baby chimp in a bad spot especially on the river left side of the strainer. Then there was about a half a dozen more river wide strainers all big trees. The rest were easier to avoid than the one above baby chimp but would be challenging at high flows. If anyone wants to get together and cut these trees out I'm all for it contact me and let me know.

The previously mentioned strainer that Kemper spoke of in an earlier comment has been replaced with a giant 30' old growth tree that will not be going anywhere anytime soon. However, this tree can be sees way upstream in plenty time to portage on the left. There's one other log a few miles downstream that can be easily portaged on the right also.

There is an inconveniently placed log at the end of some class II boogie water that finishes in the pool above the known slot seive. You are comitted to the boogie water before you notice it in the only passable channel. It can be boofed but it claimed swims from three of the five members of our party. There are no easy eddies available by the time you notice the log. We tried to extract it for about 45 minutes with no success. The bridge guage level was 2.5 when we put on and 2.0 when we took out. It may not be an issue at higher flows. We were granted permission to park at the house on the river right downstream side of the bridge. The resident said that the driveway is used as a turnaround for a school bus so weekday parking might be out of the question. Ask for permission. Be careful.
