4) Dos Rios to Alderpoint
At ~5,400 CFS, Kekawaka Falls is a Class IV rapid with 3 distinct parts spread out over half a mile: 1) a boulder dodge for a couple hundred yards just after the river takes a right turn around a blind corner. This can be scouted on river right. 2) After the boulder dodge, you'll see a horizon line with the Falls. This can be scouted on the right. It's a Class IV scout with very slippery rocks and some poison oak. The run is down the narrow right tongue, just right of the pour-over rock in the middle of the river. 3) Another couple hundred yards downstream is a Class III/IV rapid with enormous unavoidable holes, reminiscent of Lower Bernard on Hell's Canyon.
