Chesdin Dam To Petersburg (Route 36)

Log in to add an alertJust another Heads up about recently fallen trees. On Jug Handle there are two low crossing trees midway in the handle before the rapid. We have successfully ducked under them at or near 3 ft level on our runs. However, the first one is low enough to be a hazard at 4 ft and probably a serious risk at anything higher. I suggest scouting these trees if the river is near or above 4 ft. The second tree wasn't as bad but still worth noting.
Ran today. Strainers abound in the section of the river after the first dam through past the jughandle. This part of the river is deceiving as it splits up and converges many times. Look for where the most water is and try to stay with it as we cut across at one point and were faced with strong enough currents and many bank strainers which are everywhere since the river splits in so many places.
