You cannot gauge this run from the Chestnut Creek gauge. Two very different water sheds on opposite sides of the New River. At least 1' of rain in 24 hours in Grayson County and it will probably be good to go.

Typical rapid on Elk Creek after it turns away
from Rt.650.
Another typical boulder garden on Elk Creek
at +7 inches on the Rt. 274 bridge gauge.
This is the Last Ledge before class I/II/flat
water. This is E running the far right chute.
Going to go right around the rock in the
middle foreground.
Past Slicer rock which is over her left shoulder
just under water.
