Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportWe put in 2 canoes at the Mad River bridge and confluence.
It was a fast ride with lots of wave trains and very few eddies.
The only dangerous obstacle we encountered was under the Fish hatchery Bridge there is a fish counter raft taking up most of the river. It is dead center of the bridge making it dangerous to try to navigate. There are ropes and cables in the river and maybe a tight route on river right. With all the cables in the water we didnt want to chance it and we portaged river left.
There is a fair bit of wood in the river but it is easily navagable and does not block main channel in any areas.
As of June, 2010, the run has no wood that causes problems. Near the end, there is a bridge that has an island behind it that splits the river. Take the left channel to avoid the logjam stuck on the old weir on the right.
Also, be aware that the land owner and neighbors at the put-in are watching. Ask permission to launch, and thank them for their kindness.
