This is a small stream with a big attitude. Most of the creek can be scouted from the main road. Like a lot of little steams, you can be fooled by what you see from the road...it's what you can't see from the road that makes this creek so fun. Laurel Creek road (pick it up in Cowen) runs the entire length of Upper Laurel Creek until you reach Erbacon. Then you start getting into lower Laurel Creek (a whole different ballgame). Keep a vigilant eye out for strainers, they are common. There are 2 class IV's and several fun II's and III's on Upper Laurel Creek. Awesome run!
