7 - West Table to Sheep Gulch (Alpine Canyon)

If you're from the East, I'd characterize this run as Cheat Narrows-type moves with Gauley-type push. Tons of surf waves, some with eddy service, some catch-on-the-fly. Make sure you adjust your timing for catch-on-the-fly. The push is deceptively strong, as are the eddylines. I missed more waves than I caught because I kept starting my sprint too late. Kahuna and Lunch Counter are great surf spots. The tailwaves and eddylines at Lunch Counter are quite squirrelly, though. I'm used to relaxing when I blow off a wave. I think I worked harder staying upright in the runout than I did while surfing, lol. Beautiful river with gin-clear water, tons of play, and easy access/shuttle.

If we keep going to the beach, we need to expect this sort of thing. Turn-about is fair play.
This is the big bouncy wave below the nice clean wave.

Terry celebrated a significant birthday on this trip. He relates that this is 'a popular usually crowded with rafters section containing some great park-and-play rapids (holes).'
