River Description

Like Yosemite Valley with more water going through it! An ideal packraft trip with excellent Class II-III paddling, easy hiking, and terrific scenery, geology, and fishing.

Our beta had us hitching/hiking up the CDT from Lower Green Lake up to a place called Beaver Park where there is a bridge over the upper Green, near Squaretop Mountain. There is an easy spot to camp there. Class 1-II quickwater with frequent wood hazards accompany the first few miles to Upper Green Lake; portages aren't the easiest due to the high, grassy riversides, but at 1150-1250cfs the water didn't make them too consequential. Hardshell boats will probably want to start at Upper Green Lake.

Paddling both the lakes is beautiful but can be windy. The river between is Class I-II and has options for easy camping in between the oxbows. We easily caught fish for dinner.

The river below Lower Green Lake picks up slowly and has some super fun intermediate Class III action. There are campsites along the river and road. Be warned that the area around Big Bend is known for its grizzlies. We didn't see any, but were mostly cautious (other than the peanut butter spilling...).

fish lip falls is near Green River. It is above the kayak white water park. It seems this person is telling you about the Green River kayak park. AS of Aug 2009 it is under construction. A colorado co is rebuilding it to have an adjustable wave thing in the river. The park is closed but you can float thru.
If it turns into what the Colorado Co. wants it will be a very good wave. And yes at fishlipfalls you can surf forever. But i dotn know about any 3+ foot waves. Fishlipfalls is at the water treatment plant. you need to go on a dirt road about 50 feet to get there. It is easy to find takes about 10 minutes. Green River is very small.

I think this description might not be correct - upper Green is over 120 miles from Flaming Gorge. Curious to know where these play spots are?

There are three three excelent playspots on this run. i dont know what the level was when we(Huge Experience CO trip)were there. the first spot is fish lip falls. it is river wide wave. in the middle it is to green to surf. on the players right side the wave is about 3 1/2 ft to 4 feet tall but you have to walk up to surf it each time you flush but its worth it because each ride can be up to 10 minutes long. on the players left side you can get on the wave by the eddy. it is 3 to 3 1/2 ft tall.it is awesome. the hole below the bridge is alright but the fairy from the eddie to the hole is kinda hard. the third hole is awesome. it is river wide and very forgiving. huge loops, cartwheels, tricky whoos, ect are easy. it is the sight of the Flaming Gorge Days rodeo.
