Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportWe ran the Eckert to Harris section on Saturday 4-26-25. The flow of the Slippery Rock at Wurtemburg was 2200cfs (4.25 feet at Wurtemberg) and 2600 cfs (4.59 feet at Wurtemberg) by the time we took off. The water was pushy, waves were large but everything was managable and boat scoutable. Eddies existed in all the key places to boat scout or take a break. One person described the run as a like 'New River Gorge Junior'. There was some great surf waves here and there. Probaly not a good level for someone with a weak brace or poor roll. Strong Class III skills or up advised. May be a fun level for shredding or rafting. Definitely worthwhile. Big fun!
Harris Bridge is now OPEN.
Creates some fun, chill wave trains as flows pick up
When flows pick up some of the curling waves approach 5 feet in height. Very fun time. Much higher than 2600 still has good wave trains, but things did appear to wash out a little bit
Me and a couple buddies Just ran the lower slip for the first time on saturday april 9th 2011, it was at 2800 cfs. Totally bigger waves than i expected but it was a ton of fun!! Definitely not all class II runs at these leves. The last rapid had some pretty huge waves at these levels and my friend almost lost his kayak in this section. As of saturday i did not see any strainers in the main channel of the creek...just fun fast water.

Typical lower Slip rapid.
Running PinUltimate rapid on lower Slippery Rock Creek at a low level. At low levels this is the hardest rapid of the run.
Pillow rapid on lower Slippery Rock Creek. This is the second most difficult rapid at low levels and the toughest at high levels.
Sneak route to avoid Pinultimate Rock.
