Moheinous wrote, on Boater Talk (8/13/01), 'I'm sure someone's been there before , but with all the rain i decided to go have a look at Spivey Creek TN today. The Nolichucky at 16,000 should clue people into possiblities in the watershed. In just the few roadside stops i saw numerous ten foot drops, a clean thirty footer, and a potentially runnable fifty footer. I uuess this one is the Spivey Falls listed on maps of the area. Probably the creek was too high for most of the day, i saw it after 5 PM today and it looked to be a perfect level. There were many more drops and gradient that i couldn't see. The few i did look at were serious video quality big ones similar to N. Fork Catawba.'
Looks like this suckah drops at at least 300 ft/mile in that short stretch. Careful, boyz'n'gurls!

50 footer lands on huge dome rock, completely unrunnable. the few drops above are hard to get down to and not worth the effort.
I ran a short section of this creek with my buddies a while back. it is pretty steep.
here is a link to some video i shot of the run
