Stephen Strange contributes:
Like Lockatong Cr., this Creek has very similar geology to the Tohickon across the river in Pa. Also, like the Lock, Wickecheoke Cr. dumps its gradient in larger chunks.
There are two put-in options. You can put-in at the Locktown Rd. bridge, or you can put in at, or just downstream of the Kingwood-Locktown Rd. (labeled Gessner Rd. on the topo map) bridge. The lower put-in will cut off about .25 miles of flat moving water.
The two take-out options are: The Green Seargent Covered Bridge. or continue down to the Prallsville Mill on the Delaware and Raritan Canal just North of Stockton.
\\ If you continue down to the mill, don't blunder over the spillway on the side of the canal nearest the Delaware. At high water the canal spills over a 4-5' high, sloping, low-head dam which creates an awful hydraulic.
In between the put-in and take-out, the river runs over dozens and dozens of ledges of varying shapes and sizes.
The biggest pair are in between Locktown and Old Mill Rd. One is about 20 yds downstream of the other. They are both about 8' tall. The first is a chunky series of steps, and the second is a clean drop. Scout these from river-left, the landowner on river-right isn't real friendly and river right is his back yard. As with any ledgy stream, there is some good play at the right levels.
